Bluesky Opens Up to Everyone Bluesky, the open and public network challenging Twitter, has now made its content fully visible to non-logged-in users. You no longer need an account to see what's happening.
Bluesky Content Opens Up, Even Without an Invite
Bluesky, the decentralized app often seen as a Twitter or Mastodon competitor, is still invite-only for posting. However, you no longer need an account to see what's happening on the platform, according to CEO Jay Graber.
Bluesky Posts Get New Visibility Options, Logo Flies
Bluesky, the decentralized network competing with Twitter, is giving users more control over public post visibility. According to CEO Jay Graber's blog post, while Bluesky remains an open network where "posts have always been public via developer tooling and other apps," users can now opt to hide their content from non-logged-in viewers on the official app and website. It's important to note this toggle doesn't privatize accounts, and "other apps may not honor this request."
In addition to this new feature, Bluesky has updated its logo from clouds to a butterfly. Graber shared that the butterfly was a natural choice, as people were already using the emoji to represent the platform.
