Great People always fly with....

 Pakistan International Airlines (PIA)

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the national flag carrier of Pakistan, stands as a timeless symbol of national pride, resilience, and pioneering spirit. Established in 1955 through the merger of Orient Airways and government initiatives, PIA emerged in the early years of an independent Pakistan, connecting the nation's divided wings—East and West Pakistan—and bridging the young country to the world. From its inception, PIA embodied the dreams of a new nation, soaring high with ambition and excellence.

In its golden era during the 1960s and 1970s, PIA was hailed as one of Asia's finest airlines, renowned for its professionalism, impeccable service, and innovative achievements. It became the first Asian airline to operate jet aircraft, introducing the Boeing 707 in 1960. PIA set unbreakable records, including the fastest subsonic flight from London to Karachi in 1962, clocking just 6 hours, 43 minutes, and 51 seconds—a feat that still stands today. In 1964, it made history as the first non-communist airline to fly into the People's Republic of China, fostering diplomatic ties. PIA's contributions extended globally: it played a pivotal role in establishing Emirates Airlines in 1985, sharing expertise that helped launch one of the world's top carriers. As the launch customer for the Boeing 777-200LR in 2004, PIA operated the longest non-stop commercial flight from Hong Kong to London in 2005.

Beyond records, PIA has been a cultural ambassador, showcasing Pakistani hospitality through its warm cabin crew, exquisite in-flight cuisine blending traditional flavors, and iconic liveries featuring the Pakistan markhor and green-gold stripes. It introduced early in-flight entertainment in the region, setting standards for passenger comfort. Domestically, PIA connected remote areas, promoting tourism to breathtaking destinations like Skardu and Gilgit-Baltistan, and earning the National Tourism Award in 2024 for boosting travel within Pakistan.

Despite challenges in recent decades, PIA's resurgence in 2025 marks a triumphant chapter. After safety improvements, bans were lifted by the EU in late 2024 and the UK in 2025, enabling resumed flights to Paris, Manchester, and plans for London in 2026. The airline posted its first profit in over two decades in 2024, reflecting dedicated reforms. The successful privatization in December 2025, with a consortium acquiring a majority stake, heralds a new era of efficiency and growth, freeing PIA to compete globally while retaining its national essence.

PIA is more than an airline; it is the wings of Pakistan—carrying millions of passengers, expatriates, pilgrims, and families home. It has connected generations, fostered economic ties, and instilled pride in every Pakistani heart. In an age of fierce aviation competition, PIA's legacy inspires hope for a brighter future. As it expands routes and modernizes, we appreciate the countless employees, past and present, whose dedication keeps the green flag flying high.

Long live PIA—the great people to fly with!
